THE ROLE:
- Perform system design layout and sizing for assigned HVAC, Central Plants, Chilled Water and Steam Systems projects.
- Coordinate the design with other disciplines, attend design coordination meetings.
- Prepare electronically generated or manual drawings with accuracy, neatness and speed, maintaining high quality and uniform standards of lines and lettering.
- Communicate design requirements and answers questions from contractors and suppliers during the bid or construction phases and maintain records of communications.
- Review shop drawings, records changes, and keep all disciplines informed of details and schedules.
- Coordinate the contract documents with the construction administrators and performs on site inspections during construction as required.
- Supervise field data collections and/or field system verifications, including travel to the site.
- Assist in the supervision of other designers and drafters assigned to a project.
- Assist in the studies and selection of equipment to fit the project design.
- Assist with interviews of design and drafting applicants.
- Act as principle client contact in the absence of the project manager and/or engineer.
The Ideal Candidate will offer:
- 2-year technical degree in an applicable discipline
- 5+ years practical experience as a mechanical HVAC / Plumbing designer.
- Experience in Health Care and Institutional Facility Design.
- Ability to supervise less experienced design team members and work within a design team environment.
- Desire to remain abreast of new and current design concepts and techniques.
- Proficiency in Microstation or AutoCAD is required
