Scope of Position: Responsible for supervision and guidance of designated staff members on a daily basis overseeing quality of care by assigned clinical staff. Will also provide direct nursing services.
Primary Responsibilities and Specific Duties:
1. Supervision
Interview applicants for nursing positions; make hiring recommendations to Director of Nursing. Will be responsible for credential and personal references on recommended hire.
Orient and train new nursing personnel and students.
Will be required to evaluate nursing/laboratory/x-ray personnel at 90 day probation and annually thereafter.
Will be required to establish a monitoring atmosphere with supervised personnel and administer disciplinary policies in consultation with Director of Nursing when required.
Monitor staff for Hepatitis B testing series.
Schedule personnel on a monthly basis, evaluate need for overtime and insure proper coverage.
Develop staff vacation coverage plan.
Recommend that nurses attends appropriate courses, workshops, etc.; review requests from nursing; collect written course summaries if needed.
Meet with Director of Nursing, Administrative Services andor financail Services Manager as required, establish meeting schedule to update appropriate staff of changes or problem solving solutions.
May be required to secure facility. Will be on rotation call-out in case of emergency.
May review and investigate patient complaints related to clinical operations and related patient satisfaction issues.
Will participate in all clinical QA activities.
2. Routine Nursing Duties (May perform any or all of these tasks at least 50% of the time)
Collect patient history, gather information pertinent to visit and document.
Communicate with clinician regarding patient care.
Assist patient and clinician in exam areas.
Administer immunizations and injections.
Give treatments/procedures as directed.
Label and process specimens.
Draw blood from patients
Assist clinicians
May start IVs
We bring our students nearly 30 years experience in the medical field and in teaching. Our students have commented many times that they appreciate both what we teach and how we teach our course. Our previous students have told us that they prefer the smaller class size and we've decided to keep our classes between 2-4 students for this reason. Some of the skills simply take more time to master than others, and we want to assure students have the time to master them. An example of such a skill is blood pressure. It simply can not be mastered being shown and practiced once or twice. We practice it daily until the students feel they know the procedure.
Our normal course price is $275.00. Mention this ad and get the course for $225.00. ($250.00 if you want your own blood pressure cuff and $275 if you want Domestic Violence and Legal Issues required by DOH) We offer additional discounts for students not needing the other items we give our students. Students that only need a student manual may take the course for $175. (The $175 price does not include uniform, stethoscope, CPR or BBP)
Employers and/or the state Department of Health require: BLS (CPR) for healthcare Providers, bloodborne pathogens, domestic violence and legal ethical issues.
Students require a uniform for taking their state exam. Students require a blood pressure cuff and stethoscope to learn the skill competently, as well as for home health care. Students require a manual/text to study and practice outside of class. We are not simply 'giving free stuff', as suggested by another school We are empowering our students with the tools necessary to do their chosen profession. Auto mechanics have tools. Carpenters have tools. CNA's also have tools of the trade--and we've decided to provide them, just as most nursing schools do, as part of the tuition package.

Our class runs for 20 hours plus the 4 additional hours needed for the CPR and Bloodborne Pathogens. Those student choosing the Domestic Violence will attend an additional 2 hour class on November 18th. (In very small classes, we do the CPR on Friday) Class times are as follows:
Mon-Fri 9am-1pm or 1:30pm-5:30pm or 6pm-10pm (6-10 has only 1 seat left)
Sat-Sun 10am-5pm (CPR is Sat. 2pm-5pm most weeks--some students need more time for their coursework, and the CPR is scheduled before state exam)
All of our students have passed their state exam at this point--and we've been teaching these classes since June. We are proud of that fact. Of course, we realize just by the law of averages, that will at some point change.
We teach our students the skills necessary to pass both the written and practical portions of the Florida CNA test, and we also expose the students to the information necessary to work in the real world, such as medical emergencies and situations when a nurse should be alerted. CNAs are on the front lines and are the eyes and ears of the RN/LPN. It's important they understand what and when to report to nursing staff.

-BSN or higher degree with prior clinical experience in hospital, nursing home and home care (must have 15 + years varied clinical experience).
