Major Purpose:
The Bookkeeper is expected know basic accounting principles and how to manage the full cycle of accounting. Duties will include accounts payable, bank reconciliation, processing payroll, journal entries, general ledger, financial reporting and assist in budget preparation. A successful bookkeeper will have the ability to prioritize work flow, complete work in a timely manner and communicate well with clients and employees of Hawkers Asian Street Fare.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Enter/import daily invoices
  • Daily Sales reconciliations
  • Reconcile multiple bank accounts daily
  • Reconcile multiple credit card accounts
  • Maintain the bi-weekly payroll process by directing and collecting, calculations, data entry, review and payroll approval
  • Maintain data integrity of payroll applications
  • Oversee any compliance and internal controls issues involving payroll
  • Assist employees and managers with questions or concerns regarding pay checks
  • Organize workers compensation and payroll tax related audits
  • Complete workers compensation wage requests
  • Monitor expenses
  • Assist with month end closing process
  • Prepare monthly sales tax returns
  • Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to accounts
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets
  • Performing client bookkeeping functions on an annual, quarterly and/or monthly basis
  • Accounts Payables (AP): Pay bills, enter bills, maintain aging report, ensure that accounting system is current
  • Assist in maintaining the general ledger and chart of accounts
  • Assist in month end closing and financial reporting process including responsibility for account analysis and account reconciliation
  • Answering phones in absence of office coordinator
  • Manager and assist with special projects

  • Proven experience as bookkeeper or in similar role
  • Minimum of one-year responsible accounting or bookkeeping experience including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger and financial reports
  • Ability to perform several tasks concurrently with ease and professionalism.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements of processing payroll accounting transactions and payroll returns
  • Experience in hospitality preferred but not required
  • Considerable knowledge of MS Office and G Suite
  • Highly familiar with spreadsheet creation, formatting, and functionality
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Organized with ability to prioritize and multi task
  • Superior organization skills
  • Reliable with patience and professionalism
Physical Demands:
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to work in a climate controlled, office environment.
  • Ability to read and write in English in order to process paperwork and follow up on any actions necessary.
  • Must be able to frequently stand, walk, give & receive oral communication, bend, squat and reach above shoulder level.
  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time, type and organize.
  • Manual dexterity needed for keyboarding and other repetitive tasks.
  • Must be able to lift/carry up to 20 lbs.
