Anne Frank was a young Jewish girl who became famous for her diary documenting her family's hiding experience during the Holocaust. Born in Frankfurt, Germany, in 1929, she and her family fled to Amsterdam to escape Nazi persecution. For two years, they hid in a secret annex behind her father's business, with the diary recording her thoughts, feelings, and experiences during that time. Discovered in 1944, Anne and her family were sent to concentration camps. Anne died of typhus at Bergen-Belsen in early 1945, a few months before the war's end. Her diary, published after the war by her father, became a widely read and translated account of the Holocaust, known as "The Diary of a Young Girl".
