Beautiful vintage early mid century (Showa period) large Kutani (nine valley) Japan cloisonné porcelain vase with rich and vibrant coloration depicting a floral scene with hand painted blue butterflies, golden clouds, gorgeous flowers and a wagon / cart. The rim and base are decorated in the Ruyi fashion with a 3/4 inch band. All of the gold color on the clouds, flowers, carts, etc. is metal impregnated into the porcelain ( Cloisonné is an ancient technique which incorporates decorative materials like enamel, colored glass, or gemstones into metalwork objects bound by wire on metal backing). This wonderful vase was sold by Lida's, not sure if they also manufactured it. This is a very heavy, substantial piece of vintage porcelain. Smooth white finish on the entire inside of vessel. Measures: 9-1/2"H x 9"D x 6" base x 5" rim. In excellent condition free from damage or repair.
