They are bright enough that you can use them at a distance without it if user and get good even coverage because of the size and shape of them. You cannot even get LED lights on a panel this big.
You can bounce light off of these using reflector panels to get a softer light or a diffuser in front of them. You don't find softboxes on larger commercial shots most times because of the set of time and how delicate they are.
These are work horses and the bulbs are durable and last for years and years reliably.
The biggest asset of these is that they don't give off the heat that the halogen lamps do. Plus, they are totally silent unlike the other styles of lights with fans.
These are great to I for commercial use photography and especially videos. The barn doors make it really easy to adjust the amount of light is coming out. Plus there are three switches on this and you can turn them on and off six bulbs and you can control three sets of lights at a time.
The light stand is not included.
