KHS&S Contractors is a subcontractor specializing in drywall, plaster, light gauge framing, and themed facades with offices located in Atlantic City, Tampa, Orlando, Ft. Lauderdale and Dallas. We are looking for a person to serve as Site Safety Coordinator for the Orlando, Florida office. The position reports to the Senior Vice President, and would supervise and exercise oversight over the divisional safety personnel at jobsite throughout the Orlando region.
The position requires that the person be able to communicate effectively with field employees as well as management in English & Spanish. Frequent travel (50% minimum) would also be required in order to monitor and maintain safe conditions at numerous jobsites located within Orlando area . The Site Safety Coordinator needs to be knowledgeable in OSHA 1926 Construction Standards and have extensive experience in the construction industry.
The Field Safety Coordinator will be responsible for assisting in the implementation of the company Safety, Health and Environmental Program at the project level for multiple projects. This person will perform safety, health and environmental, reviews at the project(s) to ensure implementation and compliance of company and government/regulated standards. This person will be a resource to the project(s) in preventing occupational injury/illness related losses by establishing appropriate loss control/reduction activities.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Review and maintained binders of KHS&S Health & Safety Program, Site Specific Plans & SDS onsite.
Conducting and monitoring all safety inspection sheet & Tags for all equipment onsite
Conducting Pre Task Plan- PTPs, & JHAs daily for all task onsite and weekly safety tool box talks meetings.
Insure all new hires get proper orientation
Enforce safety rules and eliminate unsafe acts. Follow up on safety concerns.
Ensure adequate and proper personal protective equipment is available.
Ensure all damaged tools and equipment are removed from service, tagged, and repaired.
Conduct on-site safety training as needed or find/schedule trainers from vendors or other sources.
Attend jobsite safety meetings periodically and participate by acting as a channel for communications about safety concerns. This includes the GC's construction managers & other subcontractor concerns over KHS&S activities & KHS&S concerns over activities of others.
Ensure proper housekeeping is maintained throughout work areas.
Maintain first aid supplies for KHS&S. Inspect first aid kits weekly. Maintain a supply of items needed to refill first aid kits.
Ensure all notice required by law are posted onsite.
Uses the KHS&S, Safety Checklist weekly when doing a walk-through of the job. Follow up to assure any would be violations are corrected.
Conduct accident/incident investigation and submit reports to corporate office.
Performs all other job duties and responsibilities as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS & ABILITIES FOR POSITION
Verbal and written English communication skills are required
Bilingual (Spanish) preferred
Initiative and problem solving skills are a necessity
Minimum three - five years of safety in construction.
Obtain your OSHA 510 or 500
First Aid/CPR/ AED Instructor desired
Computer proficiency in the use of MS Word, Outlook, Excel, and Power Point required.
