The 50th Anniversary Telecaster TL 90 DLX model began production in late 1995 and ran through 1996 at the Fuji-Gen Gakki plant in Japan. This model has Stratocaster single coil pickups in the neck and middle positions, unlike a MIM Nashville Telecaster, which has a Strat middle pickup and a Tele neck pickup, and began production in 1997, after the TL 90 had been discontinued.

The TL-90 DLX dimensions were modeled after the ‘62 Reissue Teles that were then being made in Japan. They have a slab Rosewood fretboard, 21 small-medium frets and a ‘62 style C neck. They have the Tele style output jack, an 8 hole pearloid pickguard, and accurate reproductions of the vintage Kluson style slotted tuners.

Besides the pickups, the physical differences between the TL-90 DLX and the ‘62 RI’s are a 6 saddle bridge, a 5 way pickup selector, and Strat style front and back body bevels (arm and belly relief) making them lighter and more comfortable than a standard Tele. They came from the factory with the control plate reversed from the standard Telecaster. Some people turned them to the traditional orientation, as was done on this one.

Some 50th Anniversary TL-90’s came with Foto Flame finishes, which was basically a film image of flame maple applied to the body and, as such, more prone to dings and play wear than traditionally painted versions like this one.

Local cash sale only. If it is sold, the ad will be taken down. No need to ask if it is available. Thinning the herd. Not really interested in trades. Reasonable offers may be considered.
