BELTARA KENNELS, AKC Reg. Boarding (Leesburg)

ABOUT US: We have been breeding and showing dogs since 1950. We started accepting boarding in 1976 in upstate New York where we had a 41 indoor/outdoor run facility. Today, here in Florida, we have a more intimate kennel setup connected to our home. My mother, Mrs. Rita Sacks, is a retired AKC dog show judge. I was a professional dog show handler for 22 years but now only show my own dogs. Both my mother and I have received the AKC "Breeder of Merit" designation. Our decades of experience serve our customers well...there is very little we haven't seen.

Beltara is part of our home, so we are here 7 days a week. Our public day begins at 10:30 in the morning and ends at 5:30 PM. The only days we try to not do business are Christmas Day and New Years Day. We require veterinary proof of inoculation for Rabies, Distemper, Parvo Virus, Bordatella (aka Kennel Cough) and Canine Influenza (aka Dog Flu). We also require recent veterinary statement that dog is parasite free (worms, fleas, ticks). Only people-friendly dogs are welcome.

We only accept 4-6 guests at a time and each of our guests is treated as though it is one of our own show dogs. Each has a private indoor/outdoor pen. OUR GUESTS ARE NEVER CRATED. We do not double dogs up...the only time more than one dog is in a pen is if they are owned by the same family and their owner wants them kept together. Otherwise, the dogs can see each other and play side by side. WE NEVER RISK OUR GUESTS' SAFETY WITH COMMUNAL PLAYTIME.

Outside runs are 1/2 covered against rain and sun. Inside is a steady 75 degrees, heated or cooled as needed. The dogs go out 6-8 times a day depending upon the weather and the last outing is between 12 and 1 AM so it is not such a long wait until morning. We like to feed twice a day, unless only once is requested, and everyone gets bedtime cookies. After lights out, we have baby monitors to our bedroom and the TV room.

We have a refrigerator and microwave in the kennel to accommodate our guests' needs. We have no problem giving oral medication or insulin shots that our guests' owners provide...but there is an additional $1/day charge for this responsibility. $1/day extra charge for three-times-a-day feeding. Additional $1-$5/day for dogs that are not housebroken or are unusually messy.

OUR RATES: Here at Beltara, OUR CUSTOMERS NEVER PAY FOR A MIDDLE-MAN. We charge by responsibility, not size. Daily rate is $18.50 with a two-day minimum charge. After that second day, morning checkout is without charge. Sliding rate as the time of checkout progresses. Every 15th consecutive day of boarding is free. Discount for three or more dogs from same household.

We would be delighted to show you our kennel. Checking in, checking out, checking us out ...always by appointment since this is also our home.
